Fortis Academy has been announced as the winner of BMet College’s exclusive Prom Package Competition, run in partnership with Hits Radio. The competition, open to schools across Birmingham, gave students the chance to secure the ultimate Year 11 prom experience—and Fortis Academy came out on top!

The winning students were surprised with the news during a special assembly yesterday, where BMet’s James Watt College Vice Principal, Randeep Sami, personally handed over a ‘golden ticket’—marking their incredible prize. Their prom will feature a live DJ from Hits Radio, a 360° photo booth, arrival entertainers, balloon displays, and an array of sweet treats, including a candy floss machine, popcorn station, chocolate fountain, and a sweet cart.

Ecstatic to have won the prize, Sarah Murcott, Executive Headteacher at Fortis Academy, said: "We are over the moon that we have won this prize for our Year 11 students. They have worked so hard this year towards their GCSEs, so this is a lovely way to celebrate the end of their time in secondary school. We enjoy our work with BMet and look forward to strengthening our links in the future so more students can benefit."

Randeep Sami added: "It has been fantastic to see so many schools engaging with our outreach activities, and we’re thrilled to reward Fortis Academy for their commitment to supporting students in their journey into further education."

At BMet, we are committed to providing young people with the opportunities and guidance they need to take their next steps confidently. The School Engagement programme is designed to help students make informed choices about their futures, ensuring they have access to the right courses, apprenticeships, and career pathways.

To enter the competition, schools had to actively engage with BMet’s school engagement activities, including attending a post-16 assembly, hosting application sessions, and encouraging students to apply to BMet for post-16 education. Fortis Academy successfully met all the criteria, securing this incredible prize for their students.

With the excitement now building for prom night, BMet are already looking ahead to next year’s competition.
