Saxon Hill Residential Provision is rated 'OUTSTANDING' by Ofsted

Staffordshire County Council is reviewing the £1.7million funding for this provision.

We know we have an amazing provision so we thought we'd let the families and friends of Saxon Hill tell you about it.

Sleepover club offers a unique service that has been rated consistently by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’. Unquestionably exclusive for the following reasons:

  • Staff spend time with pupils during school hours and continually liaise with teachers ensuring individual targets are engaged in and monitored.
  • Often pupils have complex medical needs. It is vital that staff can identify, sometimes subtle, signs of a condition so they can act promptly. Such close relations with staff, school nurses and a vigorous pre-entry questionnaire and interview with parents ensure a child’s safety is paramount.
  • Many pupils have experienced traumatic hospital stays, invasive and sometimes terrifying medical appointments. Overcoming the anxiety of new faces and buildings can take time and be a great hurdle.  This is a facility that is within a place they associate with fun, challenge and kindness. It provides a frequent, much needed haven. Children learn best when they feel safe, secure and calm.
  • At times, EHCP targets are more applicable during evening and morning (e.g., tolerate having teeth brushed, use of a spoon, put an arm in pyjama top, fall asleep on own). Regular overnight stays supply opportunities for progression.
  • In adulthood, they may need to live in a residential setting. It is crucial part of their education that they experience, from a young age, on a regular basis, overnight stays with persons other than their parent or main carer.
  •  Sleepover Club believe that all children should have the opportunity to be successful. This is service that always tries its utmost to include any child thought to benefit. It does not discriminate.
