The reception refurbishment project commenced in December 22 to reinstate the schools main reception into the original main entrance and reception space of the previously known Great Barr Comprehensive School that opened in 1957.
The new reception area has benefitted from the installation of LED lighting, radiant heating and insulation to walls and ceilings to contribute to reducing the sites energy costs and carbon footprint of the school.
Safeguarding provisions have also been updated to include new door access systems and visitor sign in system, to accompany this, new audio visual equipment to enhance student/staff and visitor communications has also been installed.
We’ve also increased accessibility with the creation of 2 new meeting rooms and a new accessibility friendly w.c.. The new external signage and colour scheme now gives the school a much more visible presence from Aldridge Road and has given our students an increased sense of pride and belonging in their school.
The project was completed at the end of February 2023 after a 12-week construction period and has received extremely positive feedback from all of those who have been through the area and visited the site.
