Alana Gratty is a talented musician currently studying at Coppice Academy, Newcastle-under-Lyme. Being blind means Alana memorises tracks to be able to perform them, describing herself as an “inspiring musician”.
Alana wants to “show to the world that anything is possible”.
Recently Alana was presented with the “Bright Young Thing 2017” award by Rachel Shenton at The Sentinel’s Our Heroes awards ceremony. Alana said, “I am honoured to win this award from The Sentinel and will continue practicing and playing music.”
Mrs Ahearn (Principal of Coppice Academy) said “Alana is an extremely talented student and is able to bring a smile to the faces of staff and pupils while practicing her pieces during the school day. It is a thoroughly deserved award and everyone here is extremely proud of her and her achievements”.
