The hard work of volunteers at Walton Hall was celebrated recently with a drinks reception at the Houses of Parliament.
On 5th December, the Shaw Trust invited a few of the school’s helpers to join volunteers from across the charity to say thank you for their continued support.
Walton Hall, which is part of the Shaw Education Trust, were delighted to receive an invite to the event and recognition for all the work their excellent team of volunteers undertake.
Principal of the academy, Amanda Cameron, commented: “It is great that our volunteers are being recognised on a national level for their outstanding help and efforts. They are real heroes.”
Volunteers from across the country attend the event to enjoy drinks and canapés at the spectacular venue.
Attendees were treated to a range of insightful guest speakers, including Shaw Trust’s Chair of Trustees, Ken Olisa, who spoke about the importance of human kindness and the impact that volunteering can have, and Susan Elan Jones MP who shared her thoughts on the role of volunteering and the opportunities it offers.
Mrs Cameron continued: “We feel lucky to have such a fantastic support system of volunteers and are truly grateful for all they bring to our school.”
