Students at Blackfriars Academy saw outstanding performance results again this year.
Every Year 11 pupil studying at the special academy achieved one or more qualifications, with subjects varying from English and mathematics, to performing arts and creative media.
Principal of the academy, Alison Parr, said: “Our students have once again showed incredible resilience in overcoming their disabilities to ensure that they immerse themselves in every opportunity made available to them in school.”
The academy, which is part of Shaw Education Trust, revealed impressive whole-school results, with over 90% of pupils judged to be in line with or exceeding expectations in English, mathematics and science.
Mrs Parr praised “teachers with strong academic profiles, small group sizes and very precise targeting, combined with extra revision sessions and continued emotional support” for helping to secure such impressive outcomes.
Blackfriars’ teaching approach ensures that every child meets and/or exceeds their academic targets and is testament to why the academy has been rated as outstanding by Ofsted for 21 years.
