Melsa Buxton - Principal of Saxon Hill

Melsa has worked in Special Education for 28 years, holding Senior Leadership positions in the maintained, non-maintained and independent sector. Most recently, Melsa was Principal of a specialist school for speech and language and an Executive Headteacher at a Special School Federation in Staffordshire.

Melsa has always aimed to ‘level the playing field’ for young people with special educational needs and disabilities, offering all children equality of opportunity, overcoming barriers and ensuring that pupils’ learning develops the skills they need to be as independent as possible.

Initial Teacher Training and Leadership development is important to Melsa, who has previously mentored and coached teachers and leaders, and she hopes to develop staff confidence in order to produce passionate and inspirational leaders of the future.
